Monrovia – Jeremiah Whapoe, standard-bearer of Vision for Liberia Transformation (VOLT), says Vice President Joseph Boakai is the only presidential candidate who will “give birth to a new Liberia” if elected the next President.

Dr. Whapo made the assertion in Monrovia when his party endorsed the Unity Party standard Bearer on Wednesday.
VP Boakai is contesting the runoff presidential poll against opposition Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) lead by Senator George Weah.
VOLT, a newly established political party, obtained 3,946 votes equating to 0.3% of the total votes of the October 10 election.
Dr. Whapo said the Vice President’s “humanity and love for country” inspired VOLT endorsement of his candidacy.
“Despite we did not win the election we have studied the characters and values of the two candidates in the runoff and with my short dealing with the two candidates and their vice running mates, VP Boakai is the man who can give birth to a new Liberia,” he said.
He also frowned on partisans of the Unity Party who have abandoned the party that gave life to them for 12 years all because they are seeking greener pasture.
“People in UP are denying VP Boakai because they want Job. We celebrate people who do harm to us,” he asserted.
He warned his partisans and supporters against voting based on sentiment, because according to him, by doing so would take Liberia no further.
“Liberia will not grow from where it is if we continue to vote base on sentiment and I believe that this is the time for Liberia to be mature.”
“I am not endorsing CDC because I love Weah, because doing so I will be giving him responsibility that he is capable to do. I am not voting CDC because of the bad inner cycle Weah currently has,” he said.
In response to the endorsement, Ambassador Boakai thanked VOLT for the decision and said his presidential ambition is “not all about power, but a mind to give back to his country and its people”, especially being a man who have had similar experience of suffering like most Liberians are going through.
He promised to ensure that recreation centers and theatres are built in every community to scout talents in young people to give them direction in their career path.
He added that his vision and plan to build roads across the country would help provide Jobs and create wealth for the country.
Once the country is connected by roads, people especially local farmers, will have the means to bring their crops and products to the market and they will get empowered, he said.
Commenting on his plans to curb corruption when elected president, he described it as “a poison” that makes people in authority want to use government to provide for them and their unborn generation, while promising to fight corruption.
