Mr. Duopu, speaking at the fund raising rally organized by the Tapita District Development Association (TADDA) Monrovia Chapter, on August 24 said without unity and reconciliation Liberia will continue to lag behind and the citizens will suffer the consequences.
“When the people are torn apart, the nation fails to meet the basic needs of its citizens; but when the people are reconciled, we can do the impossible, we can make the difference, and we can make Liberia, Nimba and Tappita better and stronger,” he declared.
The Vice Presidential candidate on the ALP ticket and a native of Tappita District in Nimba County, who is participating in an election characterized by ethnicity, challenged his compatriots to put the past behind them and work together to build a brighter future.
“Let us tear down the walls that separate us and build bridges that will unite us. Let us not allow this opportunity to pass us by.
Let us stand together and work for the change we all desired. We must be nationalistic, void of ethnicity and class system of haves and have not, educated and uneducated, because no one Liberia is more deserving than the others.
We need to put our ideals together, forgetting our backgrounds and rebuild our country because we are one Liberia, and must stand as such.”
He called on his fellow Nimbaians to put their political differences aside and work together for the development of their county and country at large. He said, as a development organization, the only way TADDA would succeed is to stand together and work in the interest of the organization.
“When we have a divided mind and a divided attitude, we will not go anywhere.”
“But I must caution you, we may have our political difference, we may have different ideologies, we may come from different school of thoughts, our district should be a common denominator, our county should be a common denominator, our nation as a whole because we are determined to improve the lives of our people.”
“To provide basic necessities that have not been provided,” the ALP Vice Standard averred.
The Tappita District Development Association (TADDA) was founded in 2006 by a group of citizens hailing from Tappita Statutory District in Nimba County, residing in the United States of America.
Since its inception, the organization has undertaken several developmental projects in the district including the renovation of the Tappeh Memorial High School in Tappita City and the construction of a Youth center among others.
