The brewing anguish lashed by lightening thunder speaks aloud from the deep of the martyrdom, echoing Adu’s ceaseless cries of regret for having formed an alliance with a cadre of “uncouth political rascals” whose greed and selfishness extended to the wretched-up hospital bed upon which the fearless commando died; begging for mercy in the humanitarian corridors where they stood by and did nothing.

His death is reminiscent of that of the fallen fighter (James Gray) when he called that bright sunny morning on Fabric Radio, expressing disillusionment over the lackadaisical approach of leaders in response to his illness- leaders they laid down their lives for.
Adu’s death reaffirms the culture of betrayal deeply rooted within the hierarchical structure of the Congress for Democratic Change as it constitutes recurrence of deaths nurtured on the wheels of gross political neglect. Most of the young comrades burry their heads in their professed loyalty without detecting the tactical employ of the animal farm technique.
We mourn the death of the fallen young man who proved fearless and courageous, even though the gap in our understanding of governance and ideological politics could quadruple the margin between the cloud and the earth. His fight was driven by youthful enthusiasm being stimulated by the barren rhetoric of a poltroon called Eugene Nagbe who has managed to catapult his way to power, using his gorilla experience gained from the bloody civil crisis when he was deeply grounded within the National Patriotic Front of Liberia (NPFL).
This vestige of political vagrants used Adu and other energetic young brothers as pond in the chess game to maintain relevance, after which time he steps their heads in betrayal and goes on merry making in a lavished life style to the disbelief of these brothers.
Interestingly, on the day commemorating Adu’s death (a candle night), Minister Nagbe attended the event given that he has served as political godfather (court-on-court) to him for many years, using him at different fronts to achieve his selfish political objectives and maintain relevance at all times. In the wake of the respect accorded him as political godfather to the fallen young man who died in want of aid, the physically deformed Minister with no facial hair (as in the case of one who lives on anti-retrovirus) was called to pay a tribute at the event. Out of his mouth gushed ignorance and congealed stupidity especially when he deviated from the aim of the program, throwing loud tantrums that Mr. Alexander B. Cummings is financing surrogate groups to critique the policies of the CDC government; thus making the government unpopular. He further averred that the act of sponsoring such groups is a form of cowardice, and thus Cummings is a coward!
To respond to his bulk of incoherent tomfoolery disgorged at the candle night, it is firstly important to connect his relationship with the dead brother. The friendship of the two (Adu and Eugen) has a long, and probably unending history. Eugene being accustomed to the NPFL guerilla tactics of using underage children to execute deadly missions like they did in the 1990s where over 45, thousand children were turned into child soldiers, so he had Adu as one of his stooges and since this was not the gun era, it was for a propaganda warfare.
The rascal played a political genre to which Adu danced from left to right. When he walked out of the CDC as Secretary General to join a cadre of insensitive bureaucrats who were bent on the mass plundering of our resources to nil, he took young Adu with him to join the Unity Party. And of course Adu resigned from the CDC! At this point, their relationship was fine because the young man knew not that he was being used.
Fast forward in 2017, Nagbe also resigned from the Unity Party as Secretary General to be joined with his Master, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf who started being uncomfortable with her Vice President and thought she must support a side that seeks to lend her protection after her presidency. Again, Adu was unleashed by his master to rejoin the CDC and rigorously campaign for Weah’s presidential bid and they succeeded in their sojourn.
This is the young man on whose candle night Nagbe supposed to pay tribute, but left the main purpose to get in his political mode that everyone least expected. Unlike those who do not know the history of the clown, death does not trigger any inch of sorrow in the heart of Eugene, not even when a friend dies! The rationale is that he saw and participated in a bloody war that alter the wanton slaughtering of over 250,000 men, women and children who died in cold blood. So, just one man like Adu could not bring sorrow to his heart, not at all!
Thus, Nagbe must engage into something much meaningful than mourning his friend with whom he has launched negative propaganda against the personality of many. It was just a way of saying to Adu, with or without you, the game shall be played. So sad that the young comrade received such a betrayal from a big brother to whom he was committed all his life.
Now we must put the bigot on the pedestals of thorough scrutiny and search to discover whether he has the moral rectitude to call anyone a coward or use any description that tends to denigrate a person’s image. When rumors about the establishment of a war crime court where Charles Taylor would go to account for the atrocities he committed in neighboring Sierra Leone began to amplify, Taylor decided to use some of his commandments who are well versed in carrying on assassination without a trait of evidence- to destroy people he perceived that the ICC would use to testify his misdeeds.
It was against this backdrop that Sam Bukari, alias General Mosquito, whom Taylor used to destabilize Sierra Leone with the RUF was placed on the assassination list to be killed, least they would stand the risk of being convicted by the ICC. The fact of the matter remained, General Mosquito had absolute authority over information regarding Taylor’s evasion of Sierra Leone.
Interestingly, Liberia woke up to a scaring news that sunny afternoon that General Mosquito was dead! It will interest you to know that it was Eugene Nagbe who drove the body to be deposited at the Samuel Stryker Funeral Home in Sinkor, Monrovia. He was made to sign for the body before they could commence the work; Stryker has detail of this account. So, the act of playing with dead body has been Nagbe’s everyday activities.
Where did Nagbe take the body from? How did he drive the body in the principal streets of the city without being noticed? How did he discover the body? What was he doing around the crime scene? Why didn’t he report the body to the security? Was there a reason why he kept it a secret? These are amongst the thought provoking questions Liberians have been asking since Sam Bukari’s death.
This is the man who calls people far from his nature of life and terrible experiences cowards in his attempt to defend the government in which he works. Does this man have the integrity grounds to stand to the face of people of distinct characters and call them names? No! But Liberia always celebrate men with mutilated characters; and this is the contradiction of our society. He is a face that reminds us of our tragic past!
Secondly, Nagbe’s political records show that when he left the CDC he described Weah as an “unqualified bus driver that was leading people in a direction he has no knowledge of”, and therefore he refused to be dumped. This is an argument we share into till date, but he has contradicted his own words in a way that is so disappointing. To have said that you got emotional and said those senseless words from your mouth, is to confess that you are far less intelligent than you are perceived.
The best intelligence of any man lies in his ability to control his emotion and anyone who falls short of this, is half a human in thinking. Frankly, that is who you are! Maybe the narcotics you took during the war era is still reacting in a negative way that you are showing emotional outbursts at an event Far from being that state of mind. This is mediocrity on steroids!
Were you angry because there seems to be a consistent mounting of pressure from the opposition on the government or, is it a way to convince President Weah that your loyalty is undaunted? Have you forgotten that this is the unqualified bus driver whose destination you refused to travel? Or are you convinced today that he knows his destination? Do you have loyalty to him or to Ellen, or to your job? This is sheer hypocrisy at the extremity!
Thirdly, your characterization of Cummings as a coward is wrong! You have demonstrated the highest form of cowardice by being with Taylor throughout the revolution and afterwards joined his archrival who ousted his regime through a military coup d’état, Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf. Also, you betrayed George Weah when he needed you the most and accused him of being less knowledgeable, and now you get emotional when others criticize him. From CDC to UP and back proves that you are a spineless coward with no sense of belonging. You stand for nothing in this country, except to deceive the people and have bread on your table.
Unfortunately, people of your kind still walks with arrogance without mask to hide you face. And you think Liberians are oblivious of your role played in destabilizing the society. The blood of the innocent children whom you guys misled to death are still crying in regret to have association with people like you, and Adu is one!
“Pen” Versus “Gun”
It was as a result of this emotional intolerance that you and Taylor evaded the jungles of Butuo and Kanplay to unleash military terror against the people only because you could not countenance the existence of the Doe government. The emotional display at Cummings signals fear that opposition may walk that similar pathway of chaos, using the barrels of the gun to express our misgivings about the government, but you are dare wrong! The opposition is far above this! We love this country and will do nothing to destroy it like you and Taylor did in the yesteryears. You are only being hunted by your deeds and nothing else.
You chose to use the gun to prove strength and make your way to power, but we will teach you another way that is peaceful and easy, it will not cause you strength. It will not make you to sleep in jungles with frogs and cock-roaches, beasts and birds, but will give you honor and showcase you IQ while you ride smoothly to power. And that is the PEN!
Cummings did not support any group to undermine the government and threaten your job as was erroneously stated by you at Adu’s candle night. In fact, you thought that your propaganda could have broken Cummings and stopped him from engaging? No, it was simply a misplaced strategy that neither shock the image of Cummings vi-sa-vi the opposition, nor granted you any favor with President Weah.
So, you see how empty your “showboating” empty was to the extent that it did not yield its desired outcome. Now you stand so discombobulated in life that you are suspecting of everyone, living a life of fear. Your prediction of what would have happened after talking loosely turns out to be a “figment” unrealizable.
If the reverse goes through that Cummings supported a group of surrogates to use the PEN and run red lines through the draconian policies of the Weah led government- hence forwarding alternative policy recommendations, at least it will not have the negative effect like the evasion of the country with guns and mortars that you and Taylor fired and launched at innocent Liberians!
There is nothing wrong with a passionate Liberian supporting a group of educated Men and women who are well versed with policy matters to help government make the right policy choices and decisions, but there is everything wrong with reverting to gun struggle for no reason, giving children narcotic substances to develop bravery and fight their fellow Liberians. If you and all of Taylor’s accomplices in the National Patriotic Front of Liberia had discovered a method so powerful like the use of the PEN, the country would have not been ransacked in the way you guys did. People like you should languish in an inner cell for the mayhem committed against the Motherland rather than being freed and indulging into empty chest beating.
Thus, these are the lackeys whose closets are so “dirty” to the extent that even a “cockroach” needs to wear slippers before entering in order to prevent some deadly political diseases, but yet they open their mouths in criticisms against people of high intelligence who have not shared into the malady of this country. Eugene is a man who trades loyalty in exchange for political appointment regardless of how he may be perceived by the public- inasmuch as it seeks to put food on his table and some money in his pocket even at the detriment of Liberians, he cares less. As the current situation depicts, he has divided loyalty with Ellen because she was the basis of his recommendation, and George Weah, because he now has the power to maintain job. Soon and very soon, Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf shall realize that she dealt with whose loyalty to her was just on the basis of what he could and nothing else.
President Weah too, has to be very careful with Eugene because he has worked satisfactorily for Liberia’s two gruesome leaders (Ellen & Taylor) whose rise to power came on the wanton bloodshed of innocent people. If a character can work to satisfy these two, he is worst then the both combined.
