Monrovia – The Sinoe University Student Union (SUSU) has extolled President George Weah for appointing Senator Joseph N. Nagbe as Associate Justice-designate of the Supreme Court of Liberia.

President George Weah recently announced the nomination of Sinoe County Senator Joseph Nagbe as Associate Justice following the retirement of Justice Philip A. Z. Banks. Sen. Nagbe’s appointment is subject to confirmation by the Liberian Senate.
According to SUSU, the appointment of Sen. Nagbe is one of the many appointments made by the President that speaks to his passion and willingness to revamp all sectors of the society including infrastructure development, vibrant economy, and provision of basic services and the rule of law.
In a statement issued in Monrovia recently through SUSU President, Felix W. Kun, the student based group said the Sinoe County Senator will take to the Supreme Court bench integrity, honesty and independence in upholding the tenants of fair dispensation of justice in accordance with the Rule of Law pillar as was enshrined in the manifesto of this government while it was in its quest for power.
The group also heaped praises on President Weah for appointing several of the county’s prominent citizens to key positions in the CDC-led government.
The statement: “It can be recalled that since the inception of this administration, prominent Sinoeans have been appointed in various positions in which they are trained and experienced including, Hon. Mobutu Vlah Nyenpan, a trained engineer, lawyer and astute politician as Minister of Public Works, Hon. Dan Saryee a seasoned administrator and experienced civil society activist as Deputy Managing Director for Operations at the Liberia Water Sewer Corporation, and Madam Celia Cuffy-Brown as Deputy Managing Director for Administration and Acting Managing Director at the NPA amongst others. They are some of the best brains Sinoe can boost of now and that they possess the moral pedigree needed in transforming mama Liberia.”
Meanwhile, the SUSU is calling on the Liberian Senate to speedily confirm Cllr. Nagbe once the details relating to his acceptance and subsequent resignation are concluded.
“As a lawyer and former chairman on the Judiciary, Claims and Petition Committee of that august body, we believe that your action to speedily confirm him will speak to your willingness to have a vibrant judiciary thus promoting the Pro-Poor agenda of this government,” the group said.
