Redemption Hospital, which operates on a free basis, like other healthcare institutions in the country, has so often come under the spotlight for insufficient drugs and lack of continued electricity.
But the KSJI believes the dedication and services rendered by staffs at the hospital cannot be overemphasized and must be supported always.
The grand presidents of Monrovia and St. Paul River Bank Grand Commanderies, Michael Clarke and Theo Kofi D’ Almeida spoke Wednesday, June 20, during the donation of several assorted items to the Redemption Hospital’s administration in New Kru Town, Monrovia.
The items included 30 bags of 25-kg rice, gallons of oil, soap and other food kinds and toiletries worth over US$8000.
Presenting the items, the two Grand Presidents, in separate statements, noted that the gesture falls in line with their Order’s obligation to cater to the poor and needy.
According to them, these items would help the hospital care for in-service patients, who are treated on a free basis.
The month of June marks the celebration of KSJI feast day and as part of activities, members of the Order identified institutions in need and provide those institutions necessary charity each year.
According to them, the Church recognizes the selfless works being carried out by the Redemption Hospital and it was necessary that some assistance be provided to them in catering to in-service patients.
“The Monrovia Grand Commandry and St. Paul River Bank Grand Commandry stop today to present these items to the hospital to assist you in your service in catering to the sick and the people of Liberia. This will help you take care of the patients that are here,” Clarke and D’ Almeida said.
Receiving the items, Redemption Hospital General Manager Karsor Yeke praised the Church for the gesture noting that it came at the right time when the hospital is keened of catering to in-service patients.
“These items will help us to do what we are always doing for patients, who are at the hospital. Thanks to the Knights of St. John for coming to do this donation,” Yeke noted.
He promised that the hospital will use the items for their intended purposes in order to save lives.
