Monrovia – The National Custom Brokers Association of Liberia (NCBAL) and the Port Truckers Association on Tuesday, November 28, commended the Managing Director of the National Port Authority (NPA), David Williams, for his tireless efforts in easing the many challenges confronting workers at the port by improving and upgrading the facility of the NPA.
The two associations’ head in their opening statement said since the establishment of the NPA in the 1960s, the current NPA Director leadership has brought relief to the many challenges confronting workers at the port, something they said never happened during the leadership of his predecessors.
“Today the two associations want to inform the general public that the National Port Authority, which is headed by Mr. David Williams, is gradually coming on path with other modern ports around the world.”
“We have observed that since the this port was handed over to the Liberian government in 1960s, there have been difficulties with the road that were at some point compare to some of the rural roads.”
“Things are gradually changing with the pavement of the roads in the port facility,” Ivan F. Tumbey, president of the National Customs Broker Association of Liberia noted.
The NCBAL president said the pavement of roads at the Freeport of Monrovia will help truck drivers to drive freely within the port without fear of their tires been damaged as usual due to bad roads condition.
“With the work that is been done on the road, you will not have truck tires spoiling again as it used to be before or the issues of water flooding all around the port will no more be a problem,” NCBAL boss said.
Also speaking, the president of the Port Truckers Association, Mulbah B. Sumo, said the significant of the joint press conference is to highlight the importance of the leadership of Director Williams at the NPA, adding that since the ascendency of Director Williams, the port has tremendously transformed to a modern port.
“We call this joint press conference in order to highlight the importance of the administration of Mr. David Williams.
We want to commend him for the pavement of roads at the NPA and since he took over he has raised the standard of the port to that of international standard, so the PTA and the NCBAL families want to thank him for his good work and the high level of good partnership we have experienced at the port under his leadership,” PTA president asserted.
