Speaking at a girls’ career day program on the campus of the NGO on Ashmun Street in Monrovia, Madam Meyler urged female students in the country to keep focus on their studies and find their purpose in life if they want to be successful.
She called on the students to not let their job in the future stop them from contributing to the society.
The MTM CEO said the intention of the career day program is for students of the academy to be inspired by the stories of some successful women in Liberia.
The career day program saw some successful Liberian women from different professional backgrounds share their story with the young female students.
“You can be whatever you want to be. Our goal here at MTM is for these girls to be in charge of their own life and destiny,” Meyer noted.
At the same time, she urged female across Liberia to not allow their community determine who they will be in the future.
She said More Than Me objective is for every child in Liberia and beyond to enjoy the basic things they need to be a good and better citizen.
“What we are telling these children is not to let their poor background determine what they will become in the future. You can be from the poorest community like West Point and you can still go on to achieve your goal and be successful in life. What we want is for every child to enjoy the fundamental human rights,” she said.
Also speaking to FrontPage Africa at the program, a young female engineer and social blogger, Shari Raji, called on young women in Liberia to use their voice to make the difference in the society.
She said women in Liberia should stand up and speak for their rights no matter their condition.
“Your voice is important to stand up for your self and to make changes. It is powerful, strong and it is enough if used wisely to make huge changes in the world,” Raji averred.
The young Liberian Engineer, speaking early to the students on the topic “The importance of finding your voice”, admonished the students about the importance of using their voice.
For her part, Liberia entrepreneur Barkue Tubman-Zawolo encouraged women in the country to challenge their male counterpart in every aspect of life, adding that women can always be at the front of everything they intend to do.
