Monrovia – The Remains of the late former Minister of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Mr. Ambulai B. Johnson arrived in the country at the Roberts International Airport in lower Margibi County via Brussels Airlines.
Senior members of President Sirleaf’s cabinet led by Dr. Henrique Tokpah, Minister of Internal Affairs turned out in their numbers including chiefs, elders and family members to receive the remains and accompany it to the Stryker Funeral Parlor.
Funeral is slated for Friday, October 14, 2016 at the Providence Baptist Church located at the corners of Broad and Ashmun Streets in Monrovia.
Hon. Ambulai AB. Johnson died in the U.S. State of North Carolina on Tuesday, September 2016. Following his death, a memorial service celebrating the life of former Internal Affairs Minister Hon. Ambulai Johnson was held in Charlotte, North Carolina at the Friendship Missionary Baptist Church on Friday September 30, 2016 that brought together family, friends and sympathizers of the deceased.
According to reports, the remains of fallen Minister of Internal Affairs arrived on Friday evening, 7:06pm, October 7, 2016 and taken to the Samuel A. Stryker Funeral Home pending funeral rites.
In a brief homily to the many family and friends gathered at the Samuel Stryker Funeral Chapel, Rev. Joseph J. Roberts, Sr., Associate Pastor of the Providence Baptist Church, encouraged the bereaved family, Ministry of Internal Affairs, friends and others to take comfort in the Lord as they go through the period of bereavement.
He used the occasion to remind family members and mourners to cry but should not lose hope in Christ Jesus as he’s the only one we should depend on.
“Let’s not cry, depend on Jesus, it was Jesus who gave and now he has taken”, he said.
Rev. Roberts described the fallen Minister as a devoted public servant whom God has called to his internal glory.
Prior to his death, he served as Deputy Minister of Labor in 1980 and former lecturer at Cuttington College now Cuttington University in 1970.
The late Johnson also lectured at the University of Liberia (UL) in 1980’s. Mr. Johnson served as MIA Minister from 2006-2009.
Mr. Ambulai “AB” Johnson Jr., was the first Minister of Internal Affairs in the Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf-led government.
