Enthusiasm is very high amongst many Liberians ahead of Monday’s historic transition of power from one democratic government to another in over four decades.
“We are very happy to see that our new President take office today,” says Bennetta Korvah, a resident of Gardnerville township who said she woke up as early as 5 am to make her way to the stadium.
One commercial motorcyclist told FrontPage Africa he began commuting passengers to the ELWA junction as early as 5:15 am.
Reports on local radio stations early Monday morning quoting organizers of the ceremony called on Liberians to attend the event even without official invitation.
One report said only guests occupying seats of the VIP stand and its surroundings would require official invitations.
As of 2:30 a.m. Monday morning, organizers were seen getting the stage ready and doing their final touches on other parts of the stadium Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex where the historic event would be held.
