Monrovia – Mr. Edward B. McClain, Jr. Minister of State & Chief of Staff in President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf’s government has died.
Minister McClain, one of the longest-serving officials in the Sirleaf administration lost a long-running battle with heart complication in South Africa early Saturday morning where he was seeking treatment.
In an Executive Mansion release, the Government of Liberia announced with profound regret and sadness, the death of the Minister for State for Presidential Affairs, Dr. Edward B. McClain, Jr. in his 72nd year. Minister McClain was also the Chief of Staff to President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf.
According to an Executive Mansion release, the State and Presidential Affairs Minister, and Chief of Staff to the President of Liberia died on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at about 2:25 am Central African time at the Wilgers Life Hospital in Lynwood, Pretoria, South Africa.
Minister Dr. Edward B. McClain, Jr. was born on November 18, 1944 and would have turn 72 in November of 2016. He died following a period of illness.
