Monrovia – The BlueCrest University College Liberia has awarded a semester scholarship to eight students who performed well at the just ended inter high school debate competition.
The inter-high school debate, which has taken Monrovia by storm ended Friday. The competition has been able to shift the minds of young people from beach going to that of academic and intellectual excellence.
The organizer of the inter High school debate Alex Devine said, education was the best gift, adding that provision of scholarship is a boost to the debate competition.
Devine added, that scholarship provided will transform the young people and build their intellectual capacities.
“If these young people aspire to be somebody tomorrow, it will come back to us, that what’s excites me most, I’m glad we can reach this point today,” Devine added.
Devine thanked, BlueCrest University for scholarship provided to the students, adding that their decision is contribution to forward match of Liberia.
“The BlueCrest said it wants to help and we taught it wise that the best thing is to offer a scholarship to the students, we are making this impact today, and we are the one who are driving this change,” Devine said.
The Head of Devine event and consultancy recalled that the organizing of the debate is to provide young people an alternative to beaching on Fridays.
“This issue of super Friday, so we decided on how to help and we felt that the young people needed an alternative, we want to transform a super Friday from social to academic, build the intellectual capacity of the young people,” Devine added.
A beneficiary of the scholarship Ciatta Sheriff thanked the BlueCrest family for affording young people the opportunity to harness their skills.
Student Sheriff called on the BlueCrest College to continue with such educational gesture, adding that they should include more students in the future.
BlueCrest University College Liberia Country Manager Rameshwar Mehrotra said, the scholarship is a pleasing opportunity for his institution to give back to the society.
