Ousman Sherif is a 19 year old Sierra-Leonean national who resided in the same community as the victim.
Police charge sheet in the possession of FrontPage Africa sated: “It is a routine that the victim, during school days, passed to her mother who is a trader at the Duala Market on the Bushrod Island for their room door key to go to the house to change her uniform after school and return to the market.”
“However, on the fateful day of October, 27, 2016 at about 1:30 pm after she has gone to the house to change her uniform in the midst of other children, she was grabbed by the defendant who is also a renter in the house and forcibly took her to his room and locked the door and allegedly raped her.
The police charge sheet revealed after the defendant had kept the victim in his room for a while, he came out without her, locking the door and fled the scene.
It was also revealed in the charge sheet that after the mother of the victim had waited and could not see her daughter, she went home to find out what was taking so long.
“She met the kids at the house who told her that her daughter was in tussle with defendant Kamara who later took her in his room.”
Investigation furthered that when the victim mother knocked on Ousman’s door and could not get any response, she subsequently began calling other neighbors to assist.
“The children insisted that the victim was in Kamara’s room which caused one of the neighbors to climb in the ceiling to discover her lying on the floor,” said the police who also claimed that the victim was sexually abused and found helpless.
The police also stated that after she was discovered in the room unconscious, she was immediately rushed to the Redemption Hospital where doctors on duty pronounced her dead on arrival.
Also the police say its investigation established that after the incident defendant Kamara is reported to have fled with the aim of going to neighboring Sierra Leone but was arrested on November 2, 2016 by the joint Security assigned at the Liberia / Sierra Leone border and brought back to the country.
Defendant Kamara was arraigned by the Monrovia City Court at the Temple of Justice and is been duly charged with the commission of murder and sexual assault in violation of chapter 14, section 14.1 and 14.70 of the revised penal law of the Republic of Liberia and reprimanded at the Monrovia Central Prison awaiting prosecution
Kamara’s arrest comes following the arrest and charge of Alex Lama for the latest armed robbery incident at the VOA Community on the Robertfield Highway where two ladies were reportedly raped and several items worth over US$700 were stolen.
Lama denied raping the ladies, saying it was his accomplices who did so.
