Liberty Party Seeks Alternative National Congress Partnership

Monrovia - As the electoral process approaches, more and more political parties are working hard to join forces in order to claim power in 2017.

But with some political analysts saying that there is no one political party that can win out rightly, more negotiations are ongoing behind the scene. In recent weeks, there have been reports of a possible collaboration between the Liberty Party and the Unity Party for the upcoming 2017 elections but both parties are yet to make public statement on the news. The open declaration of a hand of friendship to the Alternative National Congress (ANC) by Liberty Party stalwarts at the ANC national convention in the city of Bentol over the weekend has sent political strategists to the spinning room. Speaking minutes after the ANC political leader, Alexander B. Cummings, was elected to serve as the party standard bearer in 2017, former Montserrado County senatorial aspirant on the Liberty Party ticket during the 2014 senatorial elections, Benjamin Sanvee, disclosed that discussions are ongoing for the Liberty Party and the ANC to come together. “We come here today with a hand of friendship. The ANC always had a relationship with the Liberty Party and Chairman Gould can attest to that—they’ve been a friend of the Liberty party”, he said. According to Sanvee, he and Darius Dillon were instructed by Cllr. Fonati Koffa, chairman of the Liberty Party to attend the ANC convention. He said, the Liberty Party is proud of the ANC leadership, adding that within the not too distance future his party and the ANC will hold discussions to come together. “In fact, we have to be here—the chairman instructed Darius Dillon and myself to be here. So chairman Gould, once again we are proud of the leadership that you are working with and we know in the not too distance future we will hold these discussions to come together; 2017 is a team year”, said Sanvee. He lavished praises on the ANC political leader. “Knowing Mr. Cummings personally, I know he is a good man. I want to say to the ANC you are indeed blessed to have him.”
