Tel Aviv – A Liberian student in Israel has urged his fellow compatriots, who desire to pursue further studies abroad to consider the State of Israel as a priority option. Prince M. Korvah, a former President of the Federation of Liberian Youth, is currently pursuing the International Master’s program in Security and Diplomacy at Tel Aviv University (TAU), Israel’s largest academic institution.
In a dispatch from Israel, Korvah vouched for the quality of the educational standards at TAU, an institution which comprises nine faculties, 106 departments and 90 research institutes and is consistently ranked as one of the top institutions of higher learning worldwide.
The International MA program in which he is enrolled has in its faculty top scholars and leading practitioners from the Israeli armed forces, security services and Foreign Service. It is headed by Prof. Dr. Azar Gat, a renowned academician and author. The program extends far beyond the traditional classroom and is structured to have students engaged with high-ranking diplomats and other decision-makers in the weekly Ambassador Forum and build practical understanding on field visits to Israel’s borders and key security sites.
Having recently interned as an Intelligence Analyst at MAX Security Inc., one of Israel’s leading security companies, Korvah described his experiences in the country as “the best place to study, with the special opportunity of getting to live among, know and appreciate the values, quest for peace, and goodwill of the Great Jewish Nation, beyond the media stories.”
He has expressed hope that by having more young Liberians study in Israel, it will not only provide opportunities of exposure to ”best practices” in the areas of water and agriculture technology, defense, and the hi-tech industries, which are crucial to Liberia’s development, but also impact a generational relationship between the youthful populations of both nations, one which could give a new meaning to the great friendship that has always existed between Liberia and the State of Israel in the years ahead.
It can be recalled that Liberia was one of only two African nations that voted at the UN in 1947 in favor of Israel’s independence.
