Nimba County – Unity Party Standard Bearer Joseph Boakai has named business woman Felecia Yormie as Nimba County campaign Manager.
Those named on the Nimba County Campign Management Team are Felicia Yormie Manager, Tonny Gonyor Deputy Campaign Manager/operations, Peterson Walker Deputy Campaign Manager/Administration& Finance, Yah Belleh Suah Member, Sidike A.M. Kromah Member, Zebede Dolo Member, John Barlea Member, Morris G. Saye Member, Alphonso Korto Member, Robert Carr Member, Daniel Bonwein Member and Yeakeh Sayequee Member other members to be subsequently named.
The selection of Madam Yormie was greeted with joy in the county, especially amongst women and the youth.
Madam Yormie for several months has been in every town and hamlet in Nimba in an effort to tighten Vice President Boakai grip on Nimba.
The pick of madam Yormie according to political pundits in Nimba was a wise decision made by Vice President Boakai which will give him the needed votes from Nimba to secure his bid for the presidency.
The selected Campaign Manager for Boakai’s Campaign in Nimba Felecia Yormie, also has a strong support amongst the business community adding that her support base cut- across all section of Nimba.
Those who gathered to welcome madam Yormie and the campaign team back to Nimba after their preferment promised to work with newly appointed campaign manager in ensuring that Nimba is delivered to Vice President Boakai.
Months back Madam Yormie brought Scores of Nimbians, particularly women, who paraded the streets of Ganta in support of Vice President Joseph Boakai.
With the number Madam Yormie put forth in Ganta few months ago, if truly translated into votes, Senator Prince Johnson is expected to meet up with a stiff challenge in what is considered his stronghold.
The Unity Party Nimba County Campaign Manager is also the brain behind the organization of a group called Patriotic Nimbaians Movement for Boakai.
In Sanniquellie, PANIMBO with no financial assistance, gathered people in their numbers to show support to Vice President Boakai.
The women gathered in their numbers in Sanniquellie to reaffirm their support to the ruling party’s standard bearer.
Under the banner of – Nimba Women Conference, the women from all walks of life across the county pledged to work to ensure that Vice President Boakai is elected President by the people of Nimba County.
The brain behind the organizing of the Nimba women conference is Felecia Yormie who said that the women support to Vice President is due to his untainted record of public service.
“VP Boakai is the most qualified indigenous Liberian; in Liberia men always want to be the head, for a Liberian man to be Vice President to a women, he’s got to be humble, honest and God fearing,” Yormie said.
“The Bible says humble yourself and God will lift you up, the Vice President worked with the President for years without problem, it means we should pay him back by making him President.”
Madam Yormie said rallying women’s support for the Vice President is beyond Nimba, adding that they are building relationship with women from Grand Gedeh as well.
In 2005 elections, women’s support particularly, rural women’s support to President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf was critical to her victory.
The Patriotic Nimbians Movement for Boakai (PANIMOB) a grassroots political base institution which for months has been planting cells in all of the electoral districts of Nimba.
With the Naming of Emmanuel Nuyquay as a running mate to Vice President Boakai; some pundits have harboured the believed that the U.P Standard Bearer popularity has decrease in Vote rich Nimba adding that the vote is likely to be split in the October presidential and general elections due to the number of Nimbians selected as running mate.
The Nimba County Campaign Manager maintained that the Vice President Support base is still strong adding that they are even increasing the number of supporters.
